RIP Ron Silver

One of the few Hollywood activists who made you feel he really thought about his stand on the issues, and really thought about the issues. Not afraid to speak his mind but not a knee-jerk right or left winger.

Great actor.

Changes

Sorry about the changes to the blog. Few people visit here but I managed to attract a troll. I'm not going to encourage that behavior, and I'm not going to engage in "back and forth" dialog. It bores me.

This is an inconsequential blog-ette, which I started to keep up with postings on more important blogs and articles. And to clarify my thoughts to myself alone. It helps my thought processes to write things down. Forces me to think things through.

So how I wound up with a troll who tried to engage me I don't know. Nothing here is of any significance to anyone but me. It's perhaps indicative of the person's character that he/she didn't go after a bigger fish.

Because of that, I've sent emails out to a couple of folks who stop by on a fairly regular basis. I'd be happy if you want to keep up with this drivel. I welcome *your* comments.

"A Gigantic Fool"

Here Keating gives a scathing report on Tim Geithner's mishandling of the Asian monetary crisis in the late 1990's.

Keating continued: "Soeharto's government delivered 21 years of 7 per cent compound growth. It takes a gigantic fool to mess that up. But the IMF messed it up. The end result was the biggest fall in GDP in the 20th century. That dubious distinction went to Indonesia. And, of course, Soeharto lost power."

Exactly who was the "gigantic fool"? It was, obviously, the man who wrote the program, Geithner, although Keating is prepared to put the then managing director of the IMF, the Frenchman Michel Camdessus, in the same category.

Georgia Republican's Own Economic Stimulus

Here in Georgia, the legislature has introduced their own economic stimulus which seeks to help small businesses and the unemployed.

“We believe the hard-working people of Georgia -- not big government -- are the key to our economic prosperity,” said [Rep. Tom] Graves, R-Ranger. “If consumers and investors have confidence in the economic environment, then spending, investing and job creation will occur.”

Atlanta Business Chronicle, Feb. 18, 2009

The bill gives tax credits to small businesses which hire the unemployed. It will eventually phase out the corporate income tax. Small businesses in Georgia account for 98 per cent of all employers in the state. Legislators hope this bill will result in increased confidence in Georgia's economy, thereby attracting more business -- and thus more jobs -- to the state.

More jobs = less unemployment, to make it simple for any government weanies who might be reading this.

Unlike Obama's pork laden "stimulus" -- which only stimulates the growth of big government -- this legislation will actually help Georgia's economy with real, long lasting results.

See what states can do when the feds leave them alone? And these were evil Republicans who introduced this legislation.

The left may want to portray businesses as evil and greedy but as Neil Boortz says, if you think rich people are evil, go get a job from a poor person.
